RESUMO

While the correlation between parental autonomy granting and adolescents' problematic Internet use (PIU) has been confirmed, the processes underlying this connection have not been thoroughly investigated. Drawing on the ecological systems theory, this study sought to investigate the mediating mechanism of peer attachment and the moderating mechanism of school climate that link parental autonomy granting to PIU. A two-wave longitudinal design was employed with a time interval of six months. The participants were 852 adolescents who attended three middle schools located in Guangdong Province, China. Self-report questionnaires were used to obtain data on demographics, parental autonomy granting, peer attachment, school climate, and PIU. The findings indicated that peer attachment significantly mediated the link between parental autonomy granting and adolescent PIU. A positive school climate significantly moderated the influence of parental autonomy granting on peer attachment and the influence of peer attachment on PIU. Specifically, the association between parental autonomy granting and peer attachment and the association between peer attachment and PIU were more pronounced when the school climate was perceived to be positive. This research underscores the possible significance of peer attachment in the association between parental autonomy granting and PIU and offers valuable insights for mitigating the negative outcomes of PIU.

RESUMO

Four series of novel pyridine derivatives (17 a-i, 18 a-i, 19 a-e, and 20 a-e) were synthesized and their antimicrobial activities were evaluated. Of all the target compounds, almost half target compounds showed moderate or high antibacterial activity. The 4-F substituted compound 17 d (MIC=0.5 µg/mL) showed the highest antibacterial activity, its activity was twice the positive control compound gatifloxacin (MIC=1.0 µg/mL). For fungus ATCC 9763, the activities of compounds 17 a and 17 d are equivalent to the positive control compound fluconazole (MIC=8 µg/mL). Furthermore, compounds 17 a and 17 d showed little cytotoxicity to human LO2 cells, and did not show hemolysis even at ultra-high concentration (200 µM). The results indicate that these compounds are valuable for further development as antibacterial and antifungal agents.

RESUMO

In this work, a high-speed shear extraction off-line coupling high-speed countercurrent chromatography method was developed to separate maslinic acid and oleanolic acid from olive pomace. To improve extraction efficiency, the polar disparity between maslinic acid and oleanolic acid necessitated the concurrent utilization of both polar and non-polar solvents during high-speed shear extraction. Then, the high-speed shear extraction was directly feed to high-speed countercurrent chromatography for subsequently separation. A total of 250 min were needed to complete the extraction and separation process. This yielded two molecules from 3.3 g of defatted olive pomace: 7.2 mg of 93.8 % pure maslinic acid and 2.3 mg of 90.1 % pure oleanolic acid, both determined by HPLC at 210 nm. Furthermore, the compounds exhibited inhibitory activity against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. At a concentration of 100 µg/mL, its efficacy in inhibiting hyaluronidase was comparable to that of the standard drug indomethacin. Compared with the conventional separation method, this coupled technique reduced the whole time due to the direct injection of sample extraction solution. This technique provides a useful approach for the separation of natural products with significant polarity differences.

RESUMO

Countercurrent chromatography (CCC) is a potent separation approach known for its remarkable efficiency and capacity in preparation. It's applied as a substitute or combined with different chromatographic techniques, resulting in its rebranding as multidimensional CCC (MDCCC). Numerous essential mixtures from natural products contain hundreds or thousands of distinct components of importance. These mix types are too complicated to separate in any reasonable time using a single CCC dimension. However, if a multidimensional technique is utilized, where a complex mixture is separated by an initial dimension, smaller fractions of that separation are gathered. Each fraction is studied individually; complex mixes can be resolved relatively quickly. Thus, several MDCCC separation features have been studied to demonstrate their advantages, limitations, and prospective capacity to separate exceedingly complex mixtures. In this review, MDCCC aspects, including principles, multiple columns system, multilayer coil J-type, on-line monitoring system, and applications, have been thoroughly_explored.

RESUMO

Microglial activation and autophagy play a critical role in the progression of ischemic stroke and contribute to the regulation of neuroinflammation. Unc-51-like kinase 1 (ULK1) is the primary autophagy kinase involved in autophagosome formation. However, the impact of ULK1 on neuroprotection and microglial activation after ischemic stroke remains unclear. In this study, we established a photothrombotic stroke model, and administered SBI-0206965 (SBI), an ULK1 inhibitor, and LYN-1604 hydrochloride (LYN), an ULK1 agonist, to modulate ULK1 activity in vivo. We assessed sensorimotor deficits, neuronal apoptosis, and microglial/macrophage activation to evaluate the neurofunctional outcome. Immunofluorescence results revealed ULK1 was primarily localized in the microglia of the infarct area following ischemia. Upregulating ULK1 through LYN treatment significantly reduced infarct volume, improved motor function, promoted the increase of anti-inflammatory microglia. In conclusion, ULK1 facilitated neuronal repair and promoted the formation of anti-inflammatory microglia pathway after ischemic injury.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To construct a cellular senescence-related DNA methylation model to act as an independent prognosis predictor for patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). METHODS: Methylome, transcriptome and clinical information for 499 HNSCC patients were received from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) as a training set. An extra independent methylation dataset of 54 patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) was downloaded from the NCBI Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database as the validation set. To assess the cellular senescence level of each sample, the senescence score (SS) of each patient was calculated using the transcriptome data via single-sample gene set enrichment analysis (ssGSEA). Least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) Cox regression analyses were conducted to confirm Cytosine, phosphoric acid and Guanine (CpG) sites for the development of a cellular senescence-related DNA methylation signature. RESULTS: Based on the SS of each HNSCC patient in the TCGA cohort, the patients were divided into high- and low-SS subgroups. The high-SS group showed a better prognosis than the low-SS group. Moreover, 3,261 differentially methylated CpG sites (DMCs) were confirmed between the two groups. Among them, 16 DMCs were included to develop a 16-DNA methylation signature for evaluation of HNSCC prognosis using LASSO and multivariate Cox regression analysis. CONCLUSION: A novel cellular senescence-related 16-DNA methylation signature was determined, which can be used as an independent index to evaluate the prognosis of HNSCC patients and select appropriate treatment strategies.

RESUMO

This article focused on the significant public health issue of comorbidities in the elderly population and highlighted the important role of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) in the prevention and treatment of comorbidities in the elderly. It suggested that TCM should fully utilize its advantages in holistic perspective, syndrome differentiation and treatment, and preventive medicine in the process of preventing and treating comorbidities in the elderly. At the same time, in response to the significant shift in the disease spectrum of the elderly, the increasingly innovative concepts in diagnosis and treatment, the growing demand for proactive health by the el-derly population, and the current emphasis on patient-centered evaluation standards, it is necessary to further conduct basic theoretical and experimental research on comorbidities in the elderly using TCM, emphasize clinical research on comorbidities in the elderly, explore appropriate efficacy evaluation systems, improve TCM prevention and treatment strategies and comprehensive intervention programs for comorbidities in the elderly, and leverage the unique role of TCM in the rehabilitation of elderly comorbidity patients. By analyzing the potential of TCM in the field of comorbidities in the elderly, this article is expected to provide new insights for future clinical practice and scientific research.

RESUMO

AIM: To explore the effect of orthokeratology (OK) fitting on retinal vessel density in low to moderate myopia adolescents by using optical coherence tomography angiography. METHODS: Children aged 10 to 14y with a cycloplegic spherical equivalent refraction of -0.50 diopter (D) to -5.00 D and astigmatism with more than -1.50 D were recruited. The enrolled adolescents were divided into OK group and spectacle group. During regular follow-up, adolescents were measured respectively at pre-wear, 1, 3, and 6mo after treatment. The follow-up included uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA), axial length (AL), superficial capillary plexus density (SCPD), deep capillary plexus density (DCPD), central retinal thickness (CRT), foveal avascular zone area (FAZ-A), foveal avascular zone perimeter (FAZ-P) and foveal vessel density in a 300-µm-wide region around foveal avascular zone (FD-300). The collected data were analyzed using statistical methods. RESULTS: By one month, SCPD significantly increased in the fovea and superior retina, and DCPD significantly increased inferiorly in OK group compared to spectacle group (P<0.05). By three months, there were significant increases in SCPD in the fovea and inferior retina, and DCPD in the parafovea, superior, and inferior retina in OK group (P<0.05), while the increase in SCPD and DCPD in the fovea were observed by six months (P<0.05). The FD-300 significantly increased at every follow-up in OK group compared to spectacle group (P<0.05). No significant differences in the CRT, FAZ-A and FAZ-P and FD-300 were observed between two groups (P>0.05). OK group showed a significant improvement in UDVA after wearing OK, compared to spectacle group (P<0.01), while the AL did not show a significant difference between two groups (P>0.05). CONCLUSION: Short-term OK worn can increase local retinal vessel density in adolescents with low-to-moderate myopia.

RESUMO

Background: The incidence of esophagogastric junction adenocarcinoma (EJA) patients was increasing but their prognoses were poor. Blood-based predictive biomarkers were associated with prognosis. This study was to build a nomogram based on preoperative clinical laboratory blood biomarkers for predicting prognosis in curatively resected EJA. Methods: Curatively resected EJA patients, recruited between 2003 and 2017 in the Cancer Hospital of Shantou University Medical College, were divided chronologically into the training (n=465) and validation groups (n=289). Fifty markers, involving sociodemographic characteristics and preoperative clinical laboratory blood indicators, were screened for nomogram construction. Independent predictive factors were selected using Cox regression analysis and then were combined to build a nomogram to predict overall survival (OS). Results: Composed of 12 factors, including age, body mass index, platelets, aspartate aminotransferase-to-alanine transaminase ratio, alkaline phosphatase, albumin, uric acid, IgA, IgG, complement C3, complement factor B and systemic immune-inflammation index, we constructed a novel nomogram for OS prediction. In the training group, when combined with TNM system, it acquired a C-index of 0.71, better than using TNM system only (C-index: 0.62, p < 0.001). When applied in the validation group, the combined C-index was 0.70, also better than using TNM system (C-index: 0.62, p < 0.001). Calibration curves exhibited that the nomogram-predicted probabilities of 5-year OS were both in consistency with the actual 5-year OS in both groups. Kaplan-Meier analysis exhibited that patients with higher nomogram scores contained poorer 5-year OS than those with lower scores (p < 0.0001). Conclusions: In conclusion, the novel nomogram built based on preoperative blood indicators might be the potential prognosis prediction model of curatively resected EJA.

RESUMO

Backgrounds: Early detection might help in reducing the burden and promoting the survival rate of gastric cancers. Herein, we tried to explore the diagnostic value of insulin-like growth factor binding protein 7 (IGFBP7) in gastric cancers. Methods: In this study, we first analyzed the expression levels and prognostic value of IGFBP7 mRNA in gastric cancers from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database. Then, we recruited 169 gastric cancer patients and 100 normal controls as training cohort, and 55 gastric cancer patients and 55 normal controls as independent validation cohort. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was applied to test the serum levels of IGFBP7. The receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) and the area under the curve (AUC) were applied to evaluation the diagnostic value. Results: TCGA showed that IGFBP7 mRNA was dysregulated and associated with prognosis in gastric cancer patients. Then, we examined the expression of serum IGFBP7 and found that serum IGFBP7 expressed lower in gastric cancer patients than normal controls both in training and independent validation cohorts (p < 0.0001). In training cohort, with the cutoff value of 1.515 ng/ml, the AUC for distinguishing gastric cancer patients was 0.774 (95% CI [0.713-0.836]) with sensitivity of 36.7% (95% CI [29.5-44.5]) and specificity of 90.0% (95% CI [82.0-94.8]). As for early-stage EJA, the AUC was 0.773 (95% CI [0.701-0.845]) with the sensitivity of 33.3% (95% CI [14.4-58.8]). In independent validation cohort, with the same cutoff value, the AUC reached to 0.758 (95% CI [0.664-0.852]). Similarly, for early-stage gastric cancer diagnosis in the independent validation cohort, the AUC value was 0.778 (95% CI [0.673-0.882]). Conclusions: This study indicated that serum IGFBP7 might act as a potential early diagnostic marker for gastric cancers.

RESUMO

Glial activation is involved in neuroinflammation and blood-brain barrier (BBB) damage, which plays a key role in ischemic stroke-induced neuronal damage; therefore, regulating glial activation is an important way to inhibit ischemic brain injury. Effects of laquinimod (LAQ) include inhibiting axonal damage and neuroinflammation in multiple neuronal injury diseases. However, whether laquinimod can exert neuroprotective effects after ischemic stroke remains unknown. In this study, we investigated the effect of LAQ on glial activation, BBB damage, and neuronal damage in an ischemic stroke model. Adult ICR mice were used to create a photothrombotic stroke (PT) model. LAQ was administered orally at 30 min after ischemic injury. Neurobehavioral tests, Evans Blue, immunofluorescence, TUNEL, Nissl staining, and western blot were performed to evaluate the neurofunctional outcome. Quantification of immunofluorescence was evaluated by unbiased stereology. LAQ post-treatment significantly reduced infarction and improved forepaw function at 5 days after PT. Interestingly, LAQ treatment significantly promoted anti-inflammatory microglial activation. Moreover, LAQ treatment reduced astrocyte activation, glial scar formation, and BBB breakdown in ischemic brains. Therefore, this study demonstrated that LAQ post-treatment restricted microglial polarization, astrogliosis, and glial scar and improved BBB damage and behavioral function. LAQ may serve as a novel target to develop new therapeutic agents for ischemic stroke.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: Multidrug-resistant (MDR) Gram-negative bacterial infections have limited treatment options due to the impermeability of the outer membrane. New therapeutic strategies or agents are urgently needed, and combination therapies using existing antibiotics are a potentially effective means to treat these infections. In this study, we examined whether phentolamine can enhance the antibacterial activity of macrolide antibiotics against Gram-negative bacteria and investigated its mechanism of action. METHODS: Synergistic effects between phentolamine and macrolide antibiotics were evaluated by checkerboard and time-kill assays and in vivo using a Galleria mellonella infection model. We utilized a combination of biochemical tests (outer membrane permeability, ATP synthesis, ΔpH gradient measurements, and EtBr accumulation assays) with scanning electron microscopy to clarify the mechanism of phentolamine enhancement of macrolide antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli. RESULTS: In vitro tests of phentolamine combined with the macrolide antibiotics erythromycin, clarithromycin, and azithromycin indicated a synergistic action against E. coli test strains. The fractional concentration inhibitory indices (FICI) of 0.375 and 0.5 indicated a synergic effect that was consistent with kinetic time-kill assays. This synergy was also seen for Salmonella typhimurium, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Actinobacter baumannii but not Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Similarly, a phentolamine/erythromycin combination displayed significant synergistic effects in vivo in the G. mellonella model. Phentolamine added singly to bacterial cells also resulted in direct outer membrane damage and was able to dissipate and uncouple membrane proton motive force from ATP synthesis that, resulted in enhanced cytoplasmic antibiotic accumulation via reduced efflux pump activity. CONCLUSIONS: Phentolamine potentiates macrolide antibiotic activity via reducing efflux pump activity and direct damage to the outer membrane leaflet of Gram-negative bacteria both in vitro and in vivo.

RESUMO

BACKGROUNDS: Preoperative noninvasive tools to predict pretreatment lymph node metastasis (PLNM) status accurately for esophagogastric junction adenocarcinoma (EJA) are few. Thus, the authors aimed to construct a nomogram for predicting PLNM in curatively resected EJA. METHODS: This study enrolled 638 EJA patients who received curative surgery resection and divided them randomly (7:3) into training and validation groups. For nomogram construction, 26 candidate parameters involving 21 preoperative clinical laboratory blood nutrition-related indicators, computed tomography (CT)-reported tumor size, CT-reported PLNM, gender, age, and body mass index were screened. RESULTS: In the training group, Lasso regression included nine nutrition-related blood indicators in the PLNM-prediction nomogram. The PLNM prediction nomogram yielded an area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve of 0.741 (95 % confidence interval [CI], 0.697-0.781), which was better than that of the CT-reported PLNM (0.635; 95% CI 0.588-0.680; p < 0.0001). Application of the nomogram in the validation cohort still gave good discrimination (0.725 [95% CI 0.658-0.785] vs 0.634 [95% CI 0.563-0.700]; p = 0.0042). Good calibration and a net benefit were observed in both groups. CONCLUSIONS: This study presented a nomogram incorporating preoperative nutrition-related blood indicators and CT imaging features that might be used as a convenient tool to facilitate the preoperative individualized prediction of PLNM for patients with curatively resected EJA.

RESUMO

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a complex multifactorial neurodegenerative disease. Metal ion dyshomeostasis and Aß aggregation have been proposed to contribute to AD progression. Metal ions can bind to Aß and promote Aß aggregation, and ultimately lead to neuronal death. Bifunctional (metal chelation and Aß interaction) compounds are showing promise against AD. In this work, eleven new 3,3'-diamino-2,2'-bipyridine derivatives 4a-4k were synthesized, and evaluated as bifunctional agents for AD treatment. In vitro Aß aggregation inhibition assay confirmed that most of the synthesized compounds exhibited significant self-induced Aß1-42 aggregation inhibition. Among them, compound 4d displayed the best inhibitory potency of self-induced Aß1-42 aggregation with IC50 value of 9.4 µM, and it could selectively chelate with Cu2+ and exhibited 66.2% inhibition of Cu2+-induced Aß1-42 aggregation. Meanwhile, compound 4d showed strong neuroprotective activity against Aß1-42 and Cu2+-treated Aß1-42 induced cell damage. Moreover, compound 4d in high dose significantly reversed Aß-induced memory impairment in mice.

RESUMO

Acinetobacter is present in the livestock environment, but little is known about their antibiotic resistance and pathogenic species in the farm groundwater. Here we investigated antibiotic resistance of Acinetobacter in the swine farm groundwater (JZPG) and residential groundwater (JZG) of a swine farming village, in comparison to a nearby (3.5 km) non-farming village (WTG) using metagenomic and culture-based approaches. Results showed that the abundance of antibiotic resistome in some JZG and all JZPG (~3.4 copies/16S rRNA gene) was higher than that in WTG (~0.7 copies/16S rRNA gene), indicating the influence of farming activities on both groundwater types. Acinetobacter accounted for ~95.7% of the bacteria in JZG and JZPG, but only ~8.0% in WTG. They were potential hosts of ~95.6% of the resistome in farm affected groundwater, which includes 99 ARG subtypes against 23 antibiotic classes. These ARGs were associated with diverse intrinsic and acquired resistance mechanisms, and the predominant ARGs were tetracyclines and fluoroquinolones resistance genes. Metagenomic binning analysis elucidated that non-baumannii Acinetobacter including A. oleivorans, A. beijerinckii, A. seifertii, A. bereziniae and A. modestus might pose environmental risks because of multidrug resistance, pathogenicity and massive existence in the groundwater. Antibiotic susceptibility tests showed that the isolated strains were resistant to multiple antibiotics including sulfamethoxazole (resistance ratio: 96.2%), levofloxacin (42.5%), gatifloxacin (39.0%), ciprofloxacin (32.6%), tetracycline (32.0%), doxycycline (29.0%) and ampicillin (12.0%) as well as last-resort polymyxin B (31.7%), colistin (24.1%) and tigecycline (4.1%). The findings highlight potential prevalence of groundwater-borne antibiotic-resistant pathogenic Acinetobacter in the livestock environment.

RESUMO

Adulteration identification of extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) is a vital issue in the olive oil industry. In this study, chromatographic fingerprint data of pigments combined with machine learning methodologies were successfully identified and classified EVOO, refined-pomace olive oil (R-POO), rapeseed oil (RO), soybean oil (SO), peanut oil (PO), sunflower oil (SFO), flaxseed oil (FO), corn oil (CO), extra virgin olive oil adulterated with rapeseed oil (EVOO-RO) and extra virgin olive oil adulterated with corn oil (EVOO-CO). Support vector machine (SVM) classification of EVOO, other edible oils, and EVOO adulteration identification achieved 100% accuracy for the training set sample and 94.44% accuracy for the test set sample. As a result, this SVM model could identify effectively the adulteration EVOO with the limit of 1% RO and 1% CO. Therefore, the excellent classification and predictive power of this model indicated pigments could be used as potential markers for identifying EVOO adulteration.

RESUMO

Counter-current chromatography is a chromatographic separation and purification technique being developed. The development of different elution modes has significantly contributed to this field. Multiple dual-mode elution is a method developed based on dual-mode elution, which consists of a series of changing cycles of the phase role and the direction by switching between normal and reverse elution modes of counter-current chromatography. This dual-mode elution method takes full advantage of the liquid nature of stationary and mobile phases of counter-current chromatography and effectively improves the separation efficiency. So, this unique elution mode has gained extensive attention for separating complex samples. This review mainly describes and summarizes in detail its development, applications, and characteristics in recent years. Meanwhile, its advantages, limitations, and future outlook also have been discussed in this paper.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To explore the characteristics of comorbidities in patients with osteoporosis(OP) and factors associated health-related quality of life, so as to provide decision-making reference for improving the ability of disease co-prevention and co-treatment and the patient's life-cycle quality of life. METHODS: From November 2017 to July 2018, clinical information and biological samples from residents in 10 communities in Chaoyang District and Fengtai Distric of Beijing were collected, and bone density testing was conducted. Based on the Charlson comorbidity index (CCI), the comorbidity of the population was quantified, and grouped according to factors such as gender, age, and the differences between the groups were explored. Combined with the clinical information of patients, the difference characteristics of comorbidity and non-comorbidity population were analyzed. Pearson/Spearman correlation analysis and binary Logistic regression analysis were used to explore the factors affecting the health-related quality of life in patients with OP. RESULTS: Among the 521 OP patients, 121 patients had no comorbidities, and there were 153, 106, 65, and 30 patients with one, two, three, and four comorbidities, respectively, 46 patients with 5 or more kinds of comorbidites. Hypertension was the most common comorbidity in OP patients, accounting for 21.60%;followed by hyperlipidemia, accounting for 13.51%. The most common combination of the two diseases was hypertension plus hyperlipidemia (64 cases, 12.28%). Through the analysis of differences between age groups, it was found that the older patients, showed higher the CCI, and the difference between groups was statistically significant(Z=1.93, P=0.05). There were significant differences in the total EQ-5D score and the dimensions of anxiety and depression between patients with comorbidities (CCI≠0) and non-comorbidities (CCI=0) (Z=-2.67, P=0.01;Z=-2.44, P=0.02). Correlation analysis found that CCI, history of fracture, history of falls, hip bone mineral density T value and parathyroid hormone were all related to the health-related quality of life in OP patients (P<0.05). Binary Logistic regression analysis suggested that the right hip bone mineral density T value (P=0.02), CCI (P=0.01), fracture history (P=0.03) and fall history (P=0.01) were the risk factors that affect the health-related quality of life in OP patients. CONCLUSION: The burden of comorbidities among middle-aged and elderly OP populations in Beijing is relatively heavy, and the health management of such populations should be further strengthened, specifically the combination of multiple comorbidities should be given high priority. Comorbid factors are of great importance for the diagnosis and treatment strategy of OP patients, which could further improve the quality of life.

RESUMO

Pentaphragma spicatum Merr. is an endemic wild edible plant of China belonging to the Pentaphragmataceae family. It is widely consumed by Shangsi County resident in Guangxi Fangchenggang. Initially, Pentaphragma was classified as a genus within the Campanulaceae family, but, later it was treated as part of the Pentaphragmataceae family. However, the chloroplast genome of Pentaphragmataceae has not yet been reported. In this study, we sequenced the first complete chloroplast (cp) genome of P. spicatum from Guangxi, China. The whole genome was 154,229 bp in length, consisting of a pair of inverted repeats (IR each 25,572 bp), a large single-copy region (LSC 84,884 bp), and a small single-copy region (SSC 18,201 bp). The complete genome contained 129 genes, including 87 protein-coding genes, 34 tRNA, and 8 rRNA genes. The overall GC content of the whole genome was 37.71%. Based on a maximum-likelihood phylogenetic analysis, it has been determined that P. spicatum is not phylogenetically related to Campanulaceae and supports the decision to classify it as a separate family, Pentaphragmataceae. The complete chloroplast genome of P. spicatum will help enhance and integrate the existing genome data of Asterales. This will provide insights into the phylogenetic relationship within Campanulaceae.

RESUMO

Emerging pollutants have drawn global concerns under rapid urbanization and industrialization. However, research has been relatively independent on specific groups of pollutants due to the limitation of the discipline. In this study, from the perspective of interdisciplinary research, taking the fluorochemical industry as an example, two major categories of emerging pollutants, per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and ozone-depleting substances (ODS), were discussed regarding their co-emission. The co-production mechanism of the two types of pollutants were discussed from the production processes to reveal their internal relationship; their differences and cross-processes in the emission routes were analyzed, as well as the technical approaches and challenges required in sample collection, pretreatment, and instrumental analysis. The eco-environmental effects, including ecological and human health risks, ozone depletion, and global warming effects caused by the two types of pollutants in different media were comprehensively summarized. We also further expanded the perspectives of stakeholder analysis, life cycle analysis, and mass balance analysis to provide suggestions for further research and management of emerging pollutant co-emissions.
